    John Henry Woodcarving Exhibit
    This exhibit features over 100 detailed, hand-carved wood figurines that depict the story of John Henry and his work on the C&O Railway. Each role involved with the completion of the Great Bend Tunnel is also depicted. The exhibit is available Monday-Saturday 10am-4pm.

    The State Capitol Building in Charleston is the largest state capitol dome in the United States. Guided tours of the building are available Monday to Friday from 9am to 3:30pm.

    Tamarack, Best of West Virginia

    This tourist and cultural center draws over 500,000 visitors per year. They offer a huge arts facility that sells West Virginian wood, glass, textiles, pottery, metal, jewelry and more. They also offer a food court treating guests to a small taste of West Virginia.

    Big Bend Tunnel

    The Big Bend Tunnel was created as a sister tunnel to replace the wearing Great Bend Tunnel. A bronze statue of John Henry is located atop the east end of the tunnel.

    Great Bend Tunnel
    Approximately 6,500 feet long, the Great Bend Tunnel was completed in 1872 to provide the C&O Railway Co. with access to Summers County. The tunnel is no longer accessible to trains but is used to host community events.
